There are never an unlimited amount of grant opportunities for any field, including the arts. Grant eligibility often includes geograph and project specific guidelines. For example, in the film industry, there may be a grant for the film’s “Director” in “New York”, but not in other states or other purposes. Then you have the ethical issue of knowing that there may only be one or two opportunities available and have many more clients requesting an application. The other ethical issue is having one grant writer apply to the same funding opportunity for multiple clients. Grant reviewers are trained to look for these issues among others and these will be a cause for dismissal of the proposal. This is why, through the VCI, we have over 500 Certified Grant Writers, who can each write for a different client, maintaining ethical businesses practices.
